Humanity has a plastic problem.

What started out as a proposed ivory substitute in 1869 has now become one of humanity's greatest challenges. Originally, many tools and products had to be carved from ivory and tortoiseshell by skilled artisans, such as billiard balls and combs. Instead, this new material gave humanity the ability to make items on an industrial scale from a pliable, shapeable goo that could change and set shape at different temperatures.

Now, almost 200 years later, our planet is quite literally drowning in plastic waste.

This has been a choice made over and over by corporations who put dollars ahead of what is right for the Earth. It is these corporations who are responsible for mass producing such waste, forcing many of our necessary products to be sold in single-use, toxic containers.

We cannot sit idle and wait for them to clean up their act. It's up to us to get started!

Tansy Recycling is an initiative that started in 2022 as part of the Precious Plastic movement. We capture plastic wastes that are safe to recycle on a small scale and transform them into eye-catching art that you can use again and again. Support our work by donating funds or purchasing some of what we make!
